Buffalo Farms & Thermoclines

The morning started out early and brisk.   Temperatures were flirting around the 40 degree mark - but only until we climbed Route 16 North (Back of the Dragon) and 40 degrees became 60 degrees, and back to 50 degrees all within a mile or two.  The twisties were quite challenging for me especially after a cup of luke-warm water labeled "coffee".  It was one spectacular view at the top, overlooking the valley and mountain range in the distance.

A quick stop for a Bacon Egg and Cheese Bagel in Tazewell after conquering the Dragon's back - and we finally found our way to Route 61 where the riding was remarkable.  As was Route 220 and 250 right through the middle of Four National Forests - Cherokee, Jefferson, George Washington & Monongahela National Forest.  I'm fairly sure we crossed Potts Creek about 50 times - if we weren't following it to our east, it was running on the west.

We settled back into Elkins, WV and are one of the first guests at the Isaac Jackson Hotel, after a yummie plate of brisket at 1863 Grill washed down with a warm cinnamon roll and a cool glass of vodka.

By far the best roads and riding I've ever done.  One great trip coming to what I wish would never end.
